Westview Veterans Honored
On Tuesday, November 11, 2009, Westview Health Care Center honored the nineteen men and women of Westview who served in various branches of the military in a meaningful patriotic ceremony.
Organized by Westview Health Care Center's Recreation Department, the ceremony included comments from Assistant Administrator Laura Crosetti who stated, "It is a special day to pay tribute to all men and women of the Armed Forces who have made great sacrifices in order to protect our country. On behalf of the Westview staff, we are humbled and honored to share "everyday" with our Westview veterans. Their reflections of military past are truly valued and meaningful."
Members of the Albert J. Breault Post 1523 of Putnam provided a Presentation of Colors and presented American Flags to each veteran.
Connecticut State Representative, Honorable Shawn T. Johnston of the 51st Assembly District remarked, "When we speak of veterans we always speak of valor, bravery and courage but at the end of the day it is all about their incredible love for their country. This love for country is a personal and special love which enables sacrifice, and that is why we experience the freedoms that we have today."
The ceremony included singer Linda Colangelo, who performed God Bless the USA and Semper Paratus, followed by numerous patriotic melodies accompanied by "The Re-Petes". To close the event, Taps was featured by bugler Pam Fillmore, Westview's Director of Recreation.
