Westview Veterans Honored
Dayville, Connecticut - On Thursday, November 11th, 2010, Westview Health Care Center hosted a special Veterans Day ceremony to honor Westview residents, patients and staff who have served the United States through military service.
The program included an honor guard by the Albert J. Breault Post 1523 of Putnam, and a presentation of American flags to each of the fifteen veterans. Comments were delivered by Representative Shawn T. Johnston of the 51st Assembly District. Patriotic music was performed by vocalist Linda Colangelo, who was accompanied by pianists Maggie Weaver and Arthur Chenette, and the Re-Petes Chorus. To close the event, Taps was performed by bugler Pam Fillmore, Westview's Director of Recreation.
"It is important to everyone at Westview to remember and celebrate those who answered their country's call to serve so that Americans can enjoy a better way of life," said Director of Recreation Pamela Fillmore. "Hosting this program is an important way to honor our servicemen and servicewomen who reside, work and rehabilitate at Westview. We owe a debt of gratitude for their contributions to our nation."
