Press Release
November 2019 Employee of the Month

Date
December 18, 2019

Jennifer LeSage reacted with great delight as she learned of her selection as Westview Health Care Center’s November Employee of the Month. Jen is a Licensed Practical Nurse on the third shift of the skilled nursing facility. This high level of responsibility at this extended hour of night is just one example of how she fills her life to the brim with rewarding actions. In her time as a Westview staff member, these actions have now been recognized across the organization for a second time; Jennifer earning Employee of the Month in 2006 as well.

As Jennifer likes to tell her story, she is a proud graduate of Killingly High School—along with her high-school-sweetheart/husband of 27 years. Jennifer and Keith Lesage lived in Mansfield for a while, raising their two girls Madison and Ashley. Focusing intently on being their mother during early childhood, Jennifer began to pursue an education in nursing when the girls were 4 and 9 years old. (They’re 21 and 26 now) Jen graduated from Quinebaug Valley Community College’s Practical Nurse Education Program (studying at the Windham Regional Technical School satellite location) in January of 2004 and found herself a position at Westview by February 2004. Jen LeSage has provided kindhearted care for patients, residents, and families at the Dayville Health Care Center ever since.

As a third shift Nurse at Westview, Jen LeSage bears the responsibility of watching over the population of the skilled nursing residence during the overnight hours. While this is typically a time when sleeping is a common activity, there aren’t too many inactive moments between evening and morning at the Dayville nursing facility. These shifts can range dramatically between events; requiring Jen and the staff to provide everything between simple nursing care needs to end-of-life comfort measures. In caring for both the patients and their families during these sensitive moments, Jen excels in professionalism, kindness, and dedication. To work in this setting between the hours of 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM requires the best of her abilities, but Jen explains that she gets out as much as she puts in:

“I am beyond touched to be chosen to be Employee of the Month, as this is a special recognition that so many people deserve at Westview every day. I love my job as it is so rewarding and a privilege to make a difference in the lives of these patients and residents. So many of them, and their families, have made a difference to me and impacted my life. I work with a group of people whom I love and respect, have helped me grow of the years and have made great friendships with them. We have such and amazing group of caring and compassionate staff who make the patients and residents feel like they are all family here at Westview. The great organization here starts with our Administrator David, Director of Nursing Cindy Olsen, our Director of Human Resources Ruth Bentley, and continues down through every role in the building. The departments of Nursing, Therapy, Dietary, Resident Services, Laundry, Maintenance, Business, and Media and Marketing all walk together. This is what makes Westview such an exceptional organization. It makes me so proud to be a part of this place.”

Administrator David T. Panteleakos stated, “We are so fortunate to have Jen on our amazing third shift team! She has dedicated her career to helping and caring for others, which is what we are all about here at Westview. Congratulations to Jen on this well deserved recognition.”

For recreational activity, Jen loves to spend time outside. Sometimes she relaxes in the form of long walks through quiet corner woodland settings, or at other times doing a more stationary pastime like relaxing on a beach. Ogunquit, Maine is a beloved destination for Jen and her husband, daughter Madison, and daughter Ashley with her husband Alex. Jen finds herself by slightly warmer waters when visiting her father, mother, and brother; all living in Florida. As for entertainment, Jen loves to see live performances. Her favorite varieties being big musical acts and—you guessed it— World Wrestling Entertainment live. Throughout the year, marking holidays, other occasions, and random get-togethers, Jen and her husband spend as much time gathering among several other couples with whom they have life-long friendships. In her personal life, Jen shares a lot of love between her kith and kin. It is no surprise that this compassion is an invaluable asset to her skills as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
